Bat roosts

Bat species living in Switzerland utilize a wide variety of different roosting types during the summer.

Forest bats raise their young in tree hollows or crevices. Village bats use niches and cracks in buildings or spacious attics. Each bat species is so highly specialized that it cannot use every roost. Therefore, bats are very loyal to their roosts and return to them every year.
