Description

Wren Ball 1ZA

with tether rope

Who doesn't know the wren? A small, unassuming bird, best known for its exceptionally loud, trilling song, which it sings from prominent locations. However, its nesting takes place in secluded spots, in (semi-)shaded areas, in hedges, or, for example, behind a layer of ivy.

  • Inhabitant: Wren
  • Material: Wood concrete
  • Size: Ø approx. 18.5 cm, length of suspension: approx. 20 cm

The nesting box is hung using the integrated stainless steel support rope. Wrens prefer to nest in undergrowth close to the ground. The hanging loop can easily be attached to a stub branch. They are not particularly strong fliers and prefer to move around in the undergrowth by hopping. Shady spots, directly in hedges, thickets, dense vegetation, bushes, or even on balconies are very popular. The box can also be placed in a pile of brushwood. If hung completely freely, this nesting aid is readily accepted by other cavity-nesting birds, such as blue tits, coal tits, or even tree and house sparrows.

Cleaning/Inspection

We recommend refraining from inspections between April and June to avoid unnecessarily disturbing the nesting birds. Cleaning the two-part nesting box should therefore preferably take place in the autumn or winter months. For easy cleaning, the retaining rope can be removed and the upper spherical shell gently lifted from the lower one. After cleaning, simply reassemble the two halves and secure them with the retaining rope.
