Description
Acid measuring cylinder
Slim glass cylinder with base and plastic retaining ring.
With scale markings for displaying total acidity.
Suitable (necessary) accessories:
Art.No. VR74200 Blue liquor 100 ml, item no. VR74300 Blue liquor VR250 ml, item, item no. 74900 litmus paper
Application:
The juice or wine to be tested must be free of carbon dioxide (shake).
First, the test cylinder is rinsed with the solution, and then the juice or wine is filled to the 0 mark of the acidity measuring cylinder (titration cylinder). The lye solution is then added drop by drop, mixing each drop by tilting the cylinder, which is sealed with the thumb. The lye neutralizes the acid. The color changes to dark green and then blue when the neutral value is reached. At the dark green mark, read the acid content in grams per liter (‰) at eye level at the intersection of the two lines. Scale markings: 0–15 grams.
Application of litmus paper:
For measuring the acidity of dark juices/wines – determine the color change. Place one drop onto neutral litmus paper. As soon as the paper's color no longer changes (red = more acid present, blue = too much base has been used), read the scale value on the acid measuring cylinder.
