Nesting birds that prefer niches or semi-cavities are highly endangered in areas with high populations of magpies, jays, cats, and martens. Our SCHWEGLER 1N niche nesting box with two entrance holes and a nesting chamber insert offers excellent protection. Despite having only two entrance holes, there is ample light penetration, making the box very popular with birds.

Special case: Robins prefer this type of nesting cavity, especially when it is located approximately 1.0 to 2.5 m above the ground in a hedge/bush or on a building facade. The integrated protective device, for example against cats and martens, results in high breeding success.

Exception: In cases of greater shortage of nesting sites, tits of all kinds, field sparrows and many others can successfully breed in this type of cavity as an alternative nesting site in parks and forests.

The 1N niche nesting box offers perfect protection against small predators. Thanks to its double entrance design, the integrated predator protection within the nesting chamber is fully effective. This type of nesting box is safe from magpies, cats, martens, and jays, as the birds always build their nests in the rear of the insert due to the amount of light entering. Another advantage of this nesting box insert is that the parent birds can easily tend to their young from the entrance area.
