The common swift's survival in our towns and cities is now threatened, where it occupies niches and cavities in a wide variety of buildings. These spaces are often destroyed, blocked, or at least rendered uninhabitable through building renovations or new construction. We can very successfully remedy this situation by providing alternative nesting sites.

This bird species prefers to live in smaller colonies, therefore the installation of several nesting aids is recommended.

You can easily match the color of our nesting boxes to your house facade using breathable facade paint. Please be sure to look for the term "breathable".

The lightweight nesting boxes of type No. 17 are particularly suitable for retrofitting onto exterior facades. Installation: Minimum height below the entrance 6 to 7 m above ground level. Please ensure unobstructed access for entry and exit. Installing several nesting boxes is advantageous for colony formation.

Suitable mounting locations:

On exterior facades or near the roof of buildings of all kinds, e.g., residential buildings, industrial buildings, churches, road structures, walls, or even rock faces. Where possible, avoid direct, full sunlight all day long.

Cleaning & inspection:

Type 17 nest boxes can be cleaned after removing the entrance rosette. To do this, rotate the entrance 90° (entrance hole vertical) and remove it. However, cleaning is generally not necessary for swifts. Swifts always build their nests in the darkest corner of their roost and away from the entrance hole.
