Wooden cabbage pounder

To make delicious, homemade sauerkraut, the shredded and salted cabbage must be firmly packed down to release the juices and eliminate any air trapped between the cabbages. If air bubbles remain, the sauerkraut can begin to spoil. A cabbage pounder is the best tool for this. Its size and weight make the process faster and easier. The larger the fermentation crock, the larger the cabbage pounder should be, specifically the diameter of the pounding surface.
This cabbage pounder is 55cm long and is suitable for pounding on raised surfaces, e.g. when the fermentation crock is on a table.

Care:
Rinse by hand with water after use and condition with a little oil, e.g., olive oil. Not suitable for dishwashers!For larger fermentation pots, we also offer a cabbage pounder with a length of 90cm.
Tip:
For those who prefer a more robust flavor, bay leaves, juniper berries, allspice or tarragon, or even a pinch of sugar or white wine can be added to the sauerkraut.
