The Nuthatch Nest Box 5KL was specially developed for the nuthatch, as it consistently prefers the larger inner diameter of owl nest boxes No. 4 and No. 5 to the smaller nest boxes that are also suitable for it. The nuthatch loves ample, larger nesting space.
This cheeky bird typically seals the larger owl cavities No. 4 and No. 5 with clay and damp earth, reducing the entrance hole to its required size of 32 mm. This blocks entry for larger birds, rendering the cavity uninhabitable for other species.
Bedding is not necessary. The nuthatch builds its nest itself, like other small birds.
