Installation:

The hornet box can be placed on deciduous trees at the edges of forest clearings, forest margins, windthrow areas, clearings, parklands, etc.

Cleaning & inspection:

Starting in April of the following year. Leave the old nest undisturbed over the winter, as beneficial insects such as lacewings, hornet beetles, etc., like to overwinter in it.

Don't be afraid of hornets! Despite their impressive size, hornets are very peaceful creatures. Outside their nest, they quickly flee when threatened and only sting in emergencies, for example, if they are trapped.

Hornets are not interested in sweet drinks or cakes; they are mostly carnivorous, meaning they hunt and prey on other insects.

Many people fear that a hornet sting is more dangerous than a wasp sting. However, this is not the case. It is comparable to the sting of a bee, a wasp, or a bumblebee.

Bumblebees are also active at night. If one happens to wander into your bedroom, simply open the window wide and turn off the light. It will then find its way back outside on its own.
