Thanks to a special, extended extension, this type of nest box can be freely suspended from trees or even house facades. The semi-cavity design also features a nesting chamber insert that can be removed for inspection and cleaning. Even in dark, sheltered locations, the entrance opening allows for good light penetration, making it a readily accepted nesting site.

We offer various models of semi- or niche-nesting nest boxes in our nature conservation program. These are particularly suitable for species that prefer an open, balcony-like entrance, such as the common redstart or robin. However, the large opening to the nesting chamber also often leaves the eggs and chicks of these species vulnerable to predators. The predator-proof semi-nose nest box 2HW can counteract this, making unprotected installation on trees a sensible option in the first place.
