Glass balloon in a plastic protective basket.
Ideal for storing juices and wines and as a fermentation vessel in must and wine processing.
The two-part plastic protective cage protects the glass balloon from breakage and also shields the balloon's contents from light exposure. The smooth inner wall makes cleaning easier, which is already a challenge with a balloon due to its shape.
The glass balloon must be thoroughly cleaned before its first use. It is important that the temperature difference between the glass and the water does not exceed 30°C, otherwise the balloon may shatter.
Caution: The temperature difference between the liquid and the glass must not exceed 30°C.
The protective cap is merely for transport protection and is not included in the scope of delivery.

Why does a glass balloon shatter when I fill it with hot water?
If I take a balloon from the cold cellar or garage into the kitchen and fill it with hot water with the best intentions of cleaning the item, the glass layers heat up differently.
While the inner layer, which comes into contact with the hot water, quickly heats up and begins to expand, the outer wall is still cold and rigid.
Because: Glass expands when heated!
Due to the imbalance between the rigid outer layer and the expanding inner layer, the glass balloon begins to crack and eventually bursts.
This can be avoided by first allowing the balloon to acclimate to room temperature and then slowly warming it up with warm water from the outside and from within.
