This highly aromatic hot paprika powder (pimentón picante extra) from Extremadura is characterized by a smoky aroma and a bright red color, which is created by a special gentle smoking process.
The ripe small peppercorns (lat. capsicum annum) - also mistakenly called "Spanish pepper" in common parlance - are smoked over oak wood for 13-15 days after the laborious manual harvest.
To produce one kilogram of powder, 5 kg of oak wood are needed. The stems and some of the seeds are then removed, and the fruit is very gently ground using stone wheels to create this bright red powder, which gives your dishes the typical, distinctive touch of the Iberian Peninsula.
This is a purely natural product to which neither colorants nor preservatives are added.
