Description

Kingfisher and sand martin nesting tube

Nesting tubes are recommended where kingfishers and sand martins cannot dig their own burrows. This is the case under the following circumstances:

• very rocky steep walls
• extremely root-covered steep slopes
• in riverbank walls
• in artificially constructed or similarly built steep walls

Design of the incubation aid:
The underside of the base has a tightly woven mesh that prevents rodents from entering. The nesting chamber is sealed from above with a lid.

Installation:
Breeding behavior of the kingfisher:
The kingfisher, the "flying jewel," has the habit of raising its first and second broods in separate nesting burrows. Therefore, it is advisable to incorporate two nesting burrows into the same cliff face. However, the distance between them should be at least 70 cm.

Breeding behavior of the sand martin:
This species forms colonies of never fewer than a dozen breeding pairs in natural flowing waters or natural cliffs, but also in "second-hand biotopes" such as gravel and clay pits.

Residents:
Kingfisher, Sand Martin

Material:
Breathable and climate-regulating lightweight concrete. Prevents condensation in the incubator.

Detailed assembly and maintenance instructions are included with each incubation tube.
